FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-- You know what's the fiiine thing about art blocks? They kick your wittle arse into gear to finish up already-sketched old pieces; like *AishaxNekoxs original character Deadbird, for instance~ I found the sketch of this baby recently and went "Alrighty. Inking time." Now here we go.
Like the recent Sourtongue piece I posted, I wanted this to have a subtle style to it that I ain't used to. I wanted to go for a little bit of my own style but with a thin layer of... glossy anime style? Kind of? I tried not to make this baby so goshdarn sketchtastic so I put it on the down low. Then I put pitch-black inks in there and spruced it a little in terms of color to make them stand out more. <3
Deadbird was FUN AS HELL to color in. I lacked a proper reference so he pretty much looks like a dark shadow with barely any detail, but that's how I wanted him to look in here: simple and clean yet his face looks distressed. So I exaggerated the wings' size, made his darkness kind of dissolve towards the bottom, and just... THIS. Made red VERY strong in here even though there's barely any of it.
I want to practice more "simple and clean" styles. I do NOT want to get rid of the style I adore and am used to creating but making more "enclosed" pieces could help stiffen control, I think; I ain't abandoning my style, I'm just experimenting gradually.
Now I have to finish up *Riku-X-Gaaras giftie, other birthday trinkets, contest prizes, and all that incomplete shebang~<3
WHY AM I TALKING SO MUCH? I hope you like it, Aisha. Keep up the fantabulous work. XD

PS: I'm taking a break from dA, folks. So... yeah, just saying. :3
Have a nice break! ^^
[is totally comment creeper]
This is great. He looks so sad, though. I would probably hug him, but I don't know if he'd kill me or not. ;3;
